WHO IS AN ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN: An electrical technician may serve as an electrician supervisor or a member of a manufacturing unit’s production staff and technicians in this job check, build, and fix electrical systems in accordance with the device’s blueprint.

Electrical Technicians need to be familiar with motors, industrial wiring, electro-mechanical drives, PLC application software/hardware, and servo motion control applications to be successful in this role. The ability to work well in a team setting and strong troubleshooting and communication skills are important necessary for this role.

The ability to understand electrical system design drawings, make recommendations for improvement, calibrate instruments, and diagnose damaged equipment is essential for success in the field of electrical technology.

Responsibilities Of An Electrical Technician

Following are the responsibilities of an electrical technician:

An electrical technician should use hand tools and power tools, put together, install, test, and take care of electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus, and fixtures.
Electrical technician must use test equipment and hand tools to figure out what is wrong with broken systems, equipment, and parts so that the problem can be fixed.
Should be able to check electrical systems, equipment, and parts for hazards, flaws, and the need to adjust or fix them, as well as to make sure they are up to code.
Using tools like ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, test the electrical system and the continuity of the circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures to make sure they work together and are safe.
Electrical technician should accept full responsibility for all safety procedures outlined in the JSA (Job Safety Analysis)
Must show that you are self-motivated to learn new technologies as they come along.
Talk to the operators, mechanics, other electricians, engineers, supervisors, and Plant management in the right way.
Do business management tasks like keeping records and files, understanding work orders and helping to keep them up to date, using the preventive maintenance system, and using SAP.
Electrical technician should work from ladders and lifts to install, maintain, or fix electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Requirements Of An Electrical Technician

Diploma or certificate programe lasting only 2 years.
Successfully completing a training programe for electricians.
At the very least, you’ll need two years’ worth of experience in the field as an electrical technician.
Competence in finding solutions to difficult problems.
Effective verbal and nonverbal communication abilities.
Proficient with hand and power tools, soldering, and using diagnostic tools to find problems.
